Excitement Builds for the Upcoming Brassica Innovation Days

October 9th and 10th 2024, we are looking forward to welcoming you again at the Brassica Innovation Days.
As the date for our field day approaches, our team is brimming with excitement and anticipation. This year, we are proud to present a specially designed demo field for you. Our new setup and enriched content promise an unparalleled experience, showcasing the latest Seminis innovations and sustainable practices in brassica production.

The Demo Field Preparation

The preparation for this event has been a meticulous and passionate endeavour with our great partners from Windy Ridge Veg Ltd. Our team carefully selected varieties to highlight the best performances. Each plot within the demo field has been thoughtfully arranged to provide a clear and comprehensive view of the various trials and techniques.

Introducing the New Setup and Content

This year's demo field features several exciting new elements like:

- Density Trials: We have established demonstration plots with different planting densities for broccoli and cauliflower. These trials will reveal how varying plant spacing can affect yield, plant health and pest management while providing valuable insights for optimising crop performance.

- Cover Crops: The demo includes diverse cover crop systems featuring a buckwheat, phacelia, linseed, clover and vetch mix from Hutchinsons. Attendees will see firsthand how these cover crops can improve soil health, enhance nutrient cycling and contribute to sustainable farming practices. In this part of our open day site we will also have a demonstration of strip tillage by Kuhn.

- Field Tour: In addition to our core brassica crops, we will introduce other crops which are part of our Seminis portfolio. Our team are looking forward to exchange about sweetcorn, melon and butternut squash, while our distribution partner CN Seeds will be present to discuss pumpkins.
