De Ruiter Experience Centre

Bayer continues to build momentum around ToBRFV by launching several new De Ruiter® tomato glasshouse varieties in 2025! Bayer is now in full swing preparing products and seeds for the ongoing and upcoming 2025 glasshouse sowing campaign. 

Certhon's robot has now been active in Bayer's Experience Centre for two years. For those who wonder whether robotization has any impact at all on breeding: this is a resounding 'yes'. To John van der Knaap, from Bayer, the robot is very familiar. "We want to offer growers tools to cope with labour issues. We like to take into account in our breeding program the possible use of a harvesting robot."

The spread of Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) through a greenhouse can be slowed down so overall damage can be less severe. Financial impact of the disease have to be taken into account as producers will need to find the right balance between cost of prevention and yield loss.
