Agronomic Tips

  • Malling Ace starts producing fruit in May from the first spring-initiated flowers, with peak production in August. It has compact plants, with long flower trusses that give very nice fruit display and make picking very easy. For optimal results when planting Malling Ace, a density of 5 plants per linear meter should be utilised. Preliminary tests indicate Malling Ace has resistance to crown rot (Phytophthora cactorum) but with some susceptibility to powdery mildew (Phodosphaera aphanis). It is important that a robust powdery mildew control strategy is followed starting shortly after planting.
