Orangelly is a Long Shelf Life (LSL) cantaloupe suited to cooler productions windows. In planting windows where other varieties may struggle to make size, Orangelly produces uniform, strong netted fruit.
- Orangelly is a large-fruited variety with firm flesh and above average brix.
Features
- Large, silver-skinned cantaloupe, suitable for northern production areas in autumn and spring
- Large variety with LSL firm flesh properties
- Above average brix and small, tight cavity
- Fruit size between 1.8 – 2.2kg
Advantages
- Size uniformity allows for some certainty around size expectations when planted in season (8 and 9 count)
- Consistent size uniformity allows efficiency gains when packing
- LSL characteristics provide flexibility at harvest and shipping options
Agronomic Tips
- This variety is harvested by cutting the fruit. Signs that the variety is mature and ready for harvest are a skin colour change from deep green to more straw/golden in colour, netting starting to climb up the peduncle and slight cracking of the peduncle.
