As a proud supporter of the East Gippsland Vegetable Innovation Days (EGVID) for several years, like many other events happening in 2020, the EGVID took a different approach to the three-day event.
Reflecting the importance of practicing social distancing, the EGVID organising committee put together a digital engagement plan, which allowed individuals from around the country to participate through a virtual experience via Facebook Live. EGVID allows Australian seed companies to showcase new and emerging varieties from their brassica and leafy portfolios to growers and industry stakeholders at large.
The 2020 Seminis demonstration site was led by Seminis Regional Business Manager for Victoria, Carlos Ramirez, Market Development Specialist, Josip Balint and Seminis National Sales Manager, Darren Wood.
Showcasing varieties from the cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and spinach portfolios, a range of new to trial and commercial varieties were on display, such as Seminis’ High-Rise™ Broccoli and Curdivex Cauliflower. More information on the innovative breeder behind those concepts can be found here.
