“Bayer Experience” Provides Growers Unique Opportunity to Engage with New Varieties and Technologies

St. Louis, MO, August 24, 2023 – From onions and corn to crop protection and management technology, Vegetables by Bayer and Seminis® brand are bringing growers together on August 29, 2023, to see the latest innovations and best practices at the Pacific Northwest Bayer Experience in Payette, Idaho. The event provides growers with an opportunity to view what’s new not only from Bayer brands, including Seminis, but to see technologies from third parties like Naio Technologies (robotics) and Rantizo (drone spraying). But even more importantly, growers can discuss what solutions make sense for their own farm fields and operations.

“No matter what you grow or where you grow it, Bayer knows that every operation and farm is unique,” says Armi Agor, NAM West Customer Marketing Manager, Vegetables by Bayer, Bayer Crop Science. “It starts with high-quality seeds, but growers also need the right tools and resources to best nurture and grow their crops in their specific location. At the Bayer Experience, we want to bring together experts and showcase the latest innovations to help growers in the Pacific Northwest with all aspects of their operation, including crop protection and daily farm management.”

The event will feature the latest seed varieties from Seminis for carrots, sweet corn, peppers and watermelon. Naio Technologies and Rantizo will have their equipment on site and provide live technology demonstrations. Growers will be able to ask questions and have time to network with presenters and fellow growers.

Onions are paramount for Pacific Northwest agriculture, which is why the Bayer Experience will highlight onions with dedicated field trials and new variety showcases.

“At the Bayer Experience, Seminis is excited to showcase our two latest additions to our onion portfolio, Crusher and Hatchet,” says Agor. “These are both long-day yellow onions which are ideal for growing conditions in the PNW.”

Crusher provides growers in the Treasure Valley and Columbia Basin a 116- to 118-day maturity Spanish onion. With a high level of single centers, deep globe shape and attractive bronze color, it offers high yield potential and has demonstrated good processing recovery. Hatchet is a versatile onion for the Pacific Northwest region in the United States. It performs well under overhead and drip irrigation, providing growers with management options. Hatchet has shown to deliver a large, attractive bulb with good scale thickness that centers well.

As a special bonus, onion growers can hear about Velum® Prime Insecticide, the newest nematicide/fungicide from Bayer that can be applied to onion fields in early season to help growers suppress pink root and positively impact onion yield potential. Trial data throughout the U.S. has demonstrated successful nematode and disease management with Velum Prime, which has the potential to promote root health and provide higher yield through that suppression of nematodes and diseases.

The event will feature an exposition area which will provide growers with the opportunity to ask questions about their own specific challenges and learn about additional solutions that can help them in their daily operations. The exhibitors will include WestBred® Wheat, Roundup Ready® Sugarbeets, DEKALB® brand, Campbell Tractor Co., Clearwater Irrigation, and Agri-Service. The featured ag-tech demos will also provide an opportunity for dealers and distributors to earn CEU credits.
